- All tanning is hair on. We do not do leather
- For 30 day rush service, instructions must be inserted in the box with the skins.
- Big game must be fleshed, cleaned, and salted. Folding or rolling the skin while it is still warm can cause hot grease spots, which burn the hair causing it to fall during tanning.
- Big skins can be rolled to make them fit into a box. Make sure the skin is thoroughly cooled and dry before folding or rolling it.
- Include your physical return address, and telephone number.
- Always use the same name and telephone number when sending skins to us. And inform us when there is a change.
- Fish and Wild life requires us to ask for hunting, trapping, taxidermist, dealer license number, or any other document number, which allows you to be a fur taker. If you bought the skin from a third person, either ask for their license number, or send us an invoice number and date, and name of the person from whom you bought the skin.
Damage Policy
MMT is a commercial tannery and, although we try our best, minor damage sometimes occurs. If the damage is minor and repairable we will expect you to repair it as a part of being a taxidermist, trapper, tradesman, etc.and likewise we will make no compensation.
Additionally, if in the first stages of tanning we notice that one of our skins is developing a problem (hair slippage, excessive matting, etc...) we will make an effort to contact you immediately,. We will describe the damage to you and then you can decide if you want to continue to tan the skin at your own risk or discard it. If we cannot locate you immediately we will freeze the skin until contact is made and a decision has been reached.
The following suggestions will help to reduce damage:
- Make sure skins are thoroughly dry before shipping.
- Taxidermists. Dry all capes with the ears folded towards the center of the skin. This will help prevent them from being cracked during shipping.
- Taxidermists. Be sure all lips and ears are turned, tails split, and paws fleshed out.
- Ship on Mondays, especially during hot weather so shipments are not caught in a hot truck over the weekend.
- Remove all unnecessary tags from the skin once you have punched them.
